John Durman founded a company named “John Durman Construction Limited” in 1979.
It was subsequently changed to “Durman Stearn (Civil Engineering) Limited” in 1983 when a former colleague Edgar Stearn joined the Company.
Since then we have grown in stature to become one of the most successful and well-respected civil engineering and groundworks contractor in the region, providing services to a wide range of major clients. (Please refer to our sample client list). With our head office in Cottenham near Cambridge, we are well equipped to service our customers within the East Anglia and East Midlands areas.
We employ around 180 people and have a turnover exceeding £15 million. Our Senior Management and board of Directors have over 100 years’ experience with the company in various types of construction works within the Civil Engineering and Groundwork sector from the smallest domestic projects to large infrastructure contracts. We have grown to provide a range of services, which encompass developments such as roads and sewers, car parks, school extensions, government buildings, business parks, fire stations, specialist homes and housing estates.
All our employees hold qualifications and certification appropriate to their roles within the organisation in both technical and safety issues. All groundworkers are trained, as appropriate, with relevant “tickets” for the vehicles, equipment & tools. All construction site visiting staff are approved to the appropriate CITB /CSCS/CPCS status.
